Paris-Saint Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma attacked and robbed in Paris

Paris-Saint Germain (PSG) and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his partner were attacked and robbed at their Paris house on Thursday evening, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office. “An investigation into charges of armed robbery, gang kidnapping, and aggravated violence has been launched following events that occurred overnight at Mr. Donnarumma’s place,” the prosecutor’s office told CNN.

According to the prosecutor’s office, a special French police unit that specialized in armed robberies and burglaries initiated an investigation on Friday. CNN received no new information from the French police. Donnarumma’s agency stated in a statement to CNN that the goalkeeper and his partner “are in shock at what happened but doing well under the terrible circumstances.” Both are cooperating with police inquiries.

CNN contacted PSG as well, but had not received a comment by the time this report was published. The pair was not hurt, but were brought to a hospital on Friday morning due to the shock of the attack, according to CNN affiliate BFMTV. This is not the first time a PSG player has been exploited. In March 2021, the homes of PSG players Marquinhos and Angel Di Maria in the Paris region were both raided and looted. PSG’s squad, which includes Donnarumma, will depart for Japan on Saturday for a preseason summer tour, where they will face Cerezo Osaka, Al-Nassr, and Inter Milan in Tokyo.
